About the course

Themis at Burnley College is a fully accredited TWI (The welding Institute) Training Centre, meaning we can carry out inspections of test pieces and Tutors are TWI certified to carry out training and examination of test pieces. ASME IX / BS EN ISO 9606 is the international coding standard suitable for pressure vessels. pressure pipe work and other critical applications such as bridges and structural steel work applications. Tests are usually subject to volumetric inspection such as radiography or ultrasonic examination and can cover a range of welding variables, including materials; thickness and welding positions. Our coded welding training is specifically designed to suit each individuals requirements to ensure they are able to carry out welding tasks competently and to test standard. All levels of experience are catered for, from beginner training to advanced level, identifying weaknesses in technique and offering hands-on correction. All training and assessment are approved and provided by The Welding Institute accredited welding trainers and examiners who are also CSWIP approved welding inspectors.

Entry requirements

Candidates are assessed prior to training to determine current skill level and estimate the timescale required to achieve the desired standard. Each candidate is required to attend an assessment day prior to testing to ensure the candidate is at the required level. Cost for the assessment is £175.00 - half of which will be deducted from the total price of testing. (Additional material costs may apply dependent on the test taking place.)
