About the course
This Advanced qualification is for anyone who wants to further develop their photography knowledge and skills. You should already have a photography Level 2, or equivalent, and have experience in the subject. If you are visually inspired and creative and enjoy capturing the world through a lens then this is the course for you. You will experience real work opportunities and develop practical and presentation skills to a professional industry standard. You will also gain experience and skills in studio photography, documentary photography and portrait photography as well as experimental photographic imaging. You will get to showcase your work at an exhibition, go on cultural trips and have access to specialist digital imaging suites. The course is endorsed by the Royal Photographic Society (RPS) and covers a range of modules focusing on camera techniques, creating a portfolio of printed work and creatively controlling visual outcomes.
This course is suitable for learners who have completed a Level 2 NCFE photography qualification. Learners must have significant photography experience and to be computer literate.

The course is formally assessed throughout and there will be summative assessment at the end of the course. You will present an online sketchbook, with the work produced over the course, containing reasonable number of photographs and personal evaluation, these are formally assessed as the course progresses. You will also work towards three different briefs for each unit. You are given feedback on these as you progress. On successful completion you will create a digital portfolio.
Careers & Progression
On successful completion of this course you may progress to a Foundation Entry Degree course. When you have completed your studies you may be able to progress to a chosen Degree programme and Post-Graduate studies. Careers that this course may lead to include photography in a range of disciplines including landscape, event, portrait, wildlife, artistic, marketing and journalism.
