About the course

During this 30-week pre-advanced course you will further expand your dressmaking skills and techniques by completing several projects, both written and practical. These include researching the theme on the brief and producing a sketchbook of design development followed by creating your own pattern blocks and producing patterns to your own design. Producing these tasks will develop both your creative and pattern drafting techniques alongside building upon your knowledge of product planning, marking, cutting, stitching and finishing. Your research will explore the fashion industry, its current trends and popular designers work as well as learning basic fabric and fashion information. This will enable you to advance your own creative ideas and practical skills during the course by designing and producing your own garments.
